Brooke Bond Brooke Bond Tea Card Issues Going Wild Wildlife Survival (Two pictures per card) 1994 Going Wild Wildlife Survival (Two pictures per card) 1994 EL20 - This set pictures creatures from around the world, with two on each card and the backs give information about their habitat, diet etc., as well as a survival score and details of how their existence is threatened and why they are in trouble. For instance the Mediterranean Monk Seal only has a survival score of 11 out of 40 because although hunting is illegal some are still killed by fishermen and tourism is affecting their breeding beaches. By contrast the card for the Lion gives a survival score of 25 as although once hunted they are now thriving in Africa’s national parks. An educational set worthy of any collection. Card size 94 x 78 This was also produced as medium size set of 40 with one picture on each card. see website for availability.

Brooke Bond Animals & Wildlife African Wild Life blue back 1961 African Wild Life blue back 1961 50 - These cards are the work of internationally renowned wildlife painter C.F. Tunnicliffe who both illustrated the stunning pictures of animals from the African continent and wrote the descriptions on the reverse. He certainly knew his stuff as there are loads of interesting facts to learn like the fact that Nile Crocodiles cover their eggs with sand leaving them to be incubated by the sun, but dig them up when they are ready to hatch or did you know that Wart Hogs live in holes which they enter backwards so their formidable tusks face outwards. The animals pictured include a Lion, Gorilla, a delightful array of big cats including some like the Caracal and Genet which we had not heard of, s Banded Mongoose, Porcupine etc., but favourite drawings include the Jumping Hare in mid-flight with shadow underneath, Zebras and Sable Antelope at the watering hole, the tiny Klipspringer antelope leaping between rocks and a majestic male Elephant. This set was also re-issued with a black back in 1973. An album was also available to house this set. These cards are size 68 x 36mm.
