Unstoppable Cards Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art The Secret Service 2018 The Secret Service 2018 LT18 - The Secret Service was the eighth and final Anderson series to use supermarionation puppetry, but this differed from previous shows in that its central character Father Stanley Unwin resembled and was voiced by a real-life comedian of the same name and it also included footage of live actors in the long-distance shots. The story focuses on Father Stanley and his verger Matthew Harding who work in a quiet English village, but they have a hidden-life as secret agents for an organisation known as BISHOP which is a covert branch of British Intelligence. In their defence of the realm against foreign agents and terrorists they often deploy a secret devise known as the minimiser which shrinks people to a fraction of their actual size. This proves useful in smuggling Harding into difficult to access places and also shrinks villains so they can be easily defeated. In addition Unwin has a 1917 Model T Ford known as Gabriel which has been secretly revamped. Apparently Gerry Anderson was a fan of Stanley Unwin and wanted to make full use of his comic talents including his ability to speak his own form of gobbledegook. The cards picture the characters and scenes from the series whilst the numbered backs feature different pictures and details of the episode or character. Unstoppable Cards Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art The Prisoner 50th Anniversary 2018 The Prisoner 50th Anniversary 2018 LT36 - These cards picture action from the 1960s cult classic TV show The Prisoner which starred Patrick McGoohan as a former British agent who suddenly resigns and plans to leave the country. Whilst packing he is captured and imprisoned in a mysterious coastal village. All the inhabitants whilst seemingly contented are only known by numbers and nobody seems able to leave. Assigned the number 6 it does not take the hero long to realise that he is a prisoner even if the setting is lovely and his flat has been recreated. As well as security agents a balloon type devise known as ‘Rover’ captures or destroys escapees. No. 6 cannot trust anyone, especially No. 2 who is an agent working for the mysterious No. 1. It appears that those in charge wish to know why No. 6 quit so quickly and use various methods to try and get him to reveal all. The series had a very surreal feel as the world he enters is both beautiful and menacing. It was filmed in the real village of Portmerion, an Italian styled coastal village in North Wales. Some of the backs contain information on the series whilst the majority contain different black and white pictures and there is one checklist card. Size 88 x 63mm
