Among the classic movies featured are Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, “The Hound of the Baskervilles” starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes, classic comedy “Pillow Talk” starring Rock Hudson and Doris Day, “Bride of Frankenstein” with Boris Karloff, “Dracula”, several Abbott & Costello films, the Marx Brothers’ “Duck Soup”, a number of Laurel & Hardy comedies including “The Flying Deuces” and Charlie Chaplin’s “The Kid”. The pictures are embellished with glitter highlighting features whilst the text backs give plenty of detail about the film in question. The last card is a checklist. Among movies covered are “Shall We Dance” with Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers, gangster classic “Angels with Dirty Faces”, Casablanca, the Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart classic “African Queen” and “Singing in the Rain” starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds. The set contains film posters, shots from the film, portraits of the stars etc. Like many a romance the path of true love doesn’t run smooth. Scarlett loves another, Ashley, but he loves Melanie. By the time Scarlett realizes that it is Rhett she loves it is too late and he has left her, although the film ends with her vowing to win him back. The backs are full of trivia and facts, for instance we are told to film the burning of Atlanta they created the largest blaze in film history. Size 89 x 69mm

Sainsburys Star Wars Heroes (Disney Pixar Star Wars Marvel) 2019 Heroes (Disney Pixar Star Wars Marvel) 2019 M144 - This excellent set was issued in a collaboration between Sainsburys and Disney Two free packs of cards and an album were originally given away free and then free packs of 4 cards with each order over £10. What is good about these is that the colourful pictures of popular cartoon and film characters are accompanied by messages encouraging healthy eating, getting active and how to be smart, express yourself, work together and do good. For instance Mickey Mouse encourages eating well by trying different foods and the card says he likes cooking for friends, Spiderman suggests you get active to stay flexible, Belle from Beauty & The Beast is on the Be Smart card which tells us she is well-read and never judges a book by its cover, the Dumbo cards tells us “Do Good with your uniqueness” and that he “will be the star of the circus due to his big ears” and Chewbacca and Han Solo team up to make a friend for life. Within the sets there are special effects cards that sparkle, glow in the dark or have a secret picture underneath a rub-away surface. The backs are blank save for the title and contain details of the companies involved. Whether you like cartoon characters or superheroes this is definitely a set worth having. Cards size 82 x 53mm.
