Topps (UK) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art The Flintstones The Movie 1994 The Flintstones The Movie 1994 LT88 - These cards are based on the 1994 Universal film with John Goodman playing Fred Flintstone rather than the popular cartoon series and follows the adventures of a stone age family and their friends. The fronts contain colour stills from the film whilst the numbered backs contain a different smaller picture and text. In this film Fred lends his good friend Barney Rubble money to adopt a child and in return Barney fakes Fred’s IQ test and Fred is promoted. Unfortunately his new richer lifestyle does not bring him happiness and his corrupt boss frames him for theft of money from the company. Alienated from friends and family Fred is in trouble, but in the end the friends get back together and their wives break into the company and steal the dictabird which proves Fred’s innocence. One interesting fact that sometimes comes up in quizzes is that Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor made her final film appearance as Fred’s mother-in-law in this film. Good family fun - ‘Yabba-dabba-do!’ Cards size 89 x 64mm.

Roy Rogers Gum A Special Offer of £2, £3 and £5 Sets Roy Rogers In Old Amarillo (plain back) 1955 Roy Rogers In Old Amarillo (plain back) 1955 M24 - Cowboy films were still all the rage in the early 1950s and these cards reproduce in black and white some of the action from the popular film Roy Rogers in Old Amarillo, without text on the backs. Known as the “King of the Cowboys” American actor and singer Roy Rogers was actually born in the city as Leonard Franklin Slye, but changed his name to Roy Rogers when he got his first cowboy role. His character had a TV show of the same name between 1951 and 1957 and he appeared in many western films. Such was his popularity that the Roy Rogers name was used for all sorts of endorsements including these “Roy Rogers Gum” cards and even a restaurant chain. Roy was always the good guy who with his trusty horse Trigger, dog Bullet and a number of different sidekicks, sometimes including real-life wife Dale Evans, always defeated the baddies usually ending the show with a song. In this film the baddies are a greedy landowner and a ruthless gunman who are trying to cheat locals out of their property, but needless to say Roy puts everything right. This series was also produced under the name Times Confectionery but telling the story on the back. Pure nostalgia from a time when good guys always wore white hats. Size 64 x 44mm
