A & B C Native North American Indians and Cowboys High Chaparral 1969 High Chaparral 1969 L36 - These colour pictures are taken from the popular TV series of the same name which was aired between 1967 and 1971. This was an American western starring Leif Erickson as John Cannon an American rancher on the Arizona/Mexico border in the 1870s. These were challenging times and every week there seemed to be some new problem to be overcome by him, his brother, son, wife Victoria and her brother Manolito in order to keep the ranch going. The card backs make up into 4 separate sectional pictures. Reminisce on this hugely popular show with these cards which are size 81 x 56mm.

Carreras Film & Stage Stars Pre-1940 Famous Film Stars 1935 Famous Film Stars 1935 96 - These coloured portraits of famous movie stars have a glossy finish with the name given on the front and the backs are full of interesting facts about the subject, for instance we learn that Carole Lombard’s career was saved by plastic surgery after her face was disfigured in a car accident or that Lupe Velez liked rug-making and motoring. Among the big names in the set are Fay Wray, Myrna Loy, Anna May Wong, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, Mae West, Barbara Stanwyck, Joan Blondell, Joan Crawford, Shirley Temple, Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers, Anna Neagle, Jean Harlow, Norma Shearer and Gloria Swanson. The only male actors to be found in the set appear from card number 73 onwards (mostly shown with their screen partners) and include Robert Montgomery, Ramon Navarro, Leslie Howard, Maurice Chevalier, Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Johnny Weismuller, W.C. Fields and Laurel & Hardy. The pictures are delightful and the text informative – what more could you want. Cards size 66 x 35mm.

Primrose Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Laurel and Hardy (cartoon) (thick card) 1968 Laurel and Hardy (cartoon) (thick card) 1968 50 - These cards feature Larry Harmon’s cartoons of legendary comedy duo Laurel & Hardy and were originally issued in candy sticks packets. Stan and Ollie’s cinema career began in 1926 and they made a total of 104 short and feature length films, the last being “Atoll K” in 1951. Their innocent, childlike characters and slapstick humour appeals to audiences of even today and you can see why in these cartoons showing the silly situations into which they get themselves. The numbered backs contain an advert for an album which could be yours for “1/6 and one box top” and also a cartoon head of the due with appropriate quote. For instance the card showing Ollie sweeping up leaves having accidentally poked Stan in the eye and the quote on the back has Ollie saying “Come on Stanley get your back into it” and Stanley replying “Oh Ollie is my eye not enough?” This set was also produced on a thin card and paper thin card in 1972. The cards are 63 x 34mm and make a nice tribute to these legendary funny men.

Anglo Confectionery Amazing Black Friday to Cyber Monday Deals U F O (TV Series) 1970 U F O (TV Series) 1970 L64 - These cards are based on the 1970s British sci-fi classic UFO which was created by Gerry & Sylvia Anderson and Reg Hill and ran for a single season of 26 episodes. The cards are a mixture of cartoon drawings and real photos from the show. The basic premise of the story is that in 1980 Earth is visited by aliens from a dying planet who begin abducting humans to harvest for their organs which is maybe a precursor to an actual invasion. To combat this threat an organization known as SHADO is formed (which stood for Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation) with bases on the moon and on Earth. SHADO has its headquarters in a secret location below a film studio and its activities are kept secret from the general public to avoid panic. The backs make up into one large picture of the SHADOW staff and vehicles. Size 76 x 55mm
