Topps (USA) Pop Stars & Singers Duran Duran (Stickers) 1985 Duran Duran (Stickers) 1985 LT33 - Duran Duran, as I am sure you all know, were a British New Wave band formed in Birmingham in 1978 by John Taylor (bass) and Nick Rhodes (keyboard). They were joined by Roger Taylor on drums, Andy Taylor on guitar and singer Simon Le Bon although there were a few changes over the years. They started off in a nightclub, but soon achieved pop stardom, helped by their good looks and their embracing of the video/media scene. They enjoyed 14 UK Top 10 singles with such classics as ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’ and ‘Rio’. By 1985 cracks were appearing and some of the band members left and later others replaced them. The original members held a reunion in the early 2001, but never regained the heights of their earlier career and again various band members left. These stickers are from their heyday and show the stars both on and off stage. The cardboard backs make up into two 15 card pictures of the band with 3 cards showing how the puzzle should look. Size 89 x 64mm.

Topps (USA) Pop Stars & Singers New Kids on the Block 1st Series 1990 (Grey card USA Printing) New Kids on the Block 1st Series 1990 (Grey card USA Printing) LT88 - New Kids on the Block are a boy-band created by Maurice Starr which originally consisted of Donnie Wahlberg and younger brother Mark, Danny Wood, Jamie Kelly, Jordan Knight and brother Jonathan. Jamie Kelly left early on, as did Mark Wahlberg who has since had a successful acting career. Joey McIntyre was brought in as a replacement. Their debut album in 1986 failed and their next did not do well but by the 1990s the situation had changed. They became one of the most popular American acts and ‘Step by Step’ became a best selling single. Other hits followed including ‘Baby I Believe In You’ and the band toured extensively. Unfortunately following their huge popularity there was a bit of a backlash, not helped by allegations of lip-syncing which were subsequently withdrawn. By now however the band was in decline and they split in 1994. There is a happy ending however as they had a reunion in 2008 and have been performing together ever since. The orange bordered colour pictures depict the band member whilst the grey backs contain a mixture of vital statistics, quiz questions or facts. A 2nd Series and a set of LT11 stickers was also issued. Incidentally there is a UK series on the band but these are on white card rather than grey. Size 89 x 63mm\r\n
