Franklyn Davey Boxing Boxing 1924 (reprint 2002) Boxing 1924 (reprint 2002) 25 - The Bristol firm of Franklyn Davey produced a series of 25 boxing cards in 1924 (the same as Ogden’s 1914 series) and these were reprinted in 2002. These colour cards should more accurately be called boxing lessons since they take you through the different moves necessary in the noble art. The fronts picture one or two boxers demonstrating a technique whilst the card backs give full details of how to achieve this, starting with the basic position through to stopping a left handed punch whilst preparing to land one. Size 68 x 36mm.

Players Birds, Butterflies & Moths Birds and Their Young 1st Series (unissued) 1955 Birds and Their Young 1st Series (unissued) 1955 25 - In 1955 Players prepared two sets of 25 cards for issue. The pictures and text for both these sets was taken from the 1937 set of the same name, but split into two sets of 25 and unlike the original issue these did not have adhesive backs or the album advert. We love the pictures in this first set showing the plump little Chiffchaff chicks about to receive a fly from mum, the greedy chicks of the Hedge Sparrow, the Skylark with its well-disguised nest and the busy Robin with its chicks. A delightful set with cards size 66 x 36mm.

Gallaher Reprinted Series The Great War Victoria Cross Heroes 6th Series 1915 (reprint 2017) The Great War Victoria Cross Heroes 6th Series 1915 (reprint 2017) 25 - As the title suggests this is a 6th set of Victoria Cross winners from the Great War. The heroes are pictured in colour with a Victoria Cross medal superimposed. Among this batch are Lieut. W.L Robinson who won his award for bringing down an airship, Rev. W.R.F Addison who carried a wounded man to safety, Corpl. G. Sanders who with 30 men held a position for 36 hours without food or water, Sergt. C.C. Castleton and Lieut. G.S. Cather who on separate occasions ventured into ‘No Man’s Land’ under intense fire to rescue the wounded and were killed, Pte. J Hutchinson who not only shot to enemy soldiers, but covered the rest of his regiment whilst the wounded were removed safely, Pte. Albert Hill who attacked the enemy capturing two prisoners, Pte. M. O’Mera who carried ammunition and bombs through heavily shelled trenches and Pte. W.F. McFadzean who saved his comrades by throwing himself on top of exploding bombs which had slipped into the trench. The backs tell their stories of courage and sacrifice. A fitting tribute to mark Armistice Day. Size 68 x 36mm.
