Players Birds, Butterflies & Moths Birds and Their Young 1st Series (unissued) 1955 Birds and Their Young 1st Series (unissued) 1955 25 - In 1955 Players prepared two sets of 25 cards for issue. The pictures and text for both these sets was taken from the 1937 set of the same name, but split into two sets of 25 and unlike the original issue these did not have adhesive backs or the album advert. We love the pictures in this first set showing the plump little Chiffchaff chicks about to receive a fly from mum, the greedy chicks of the Hedge Sparrow, the Skylark with its well-disguised nest and the busy Robin with its chicks. A delightful set with cards size 66 x 36mm.

Cope Military - General Series The Worlds Police 1935 (reprint 2005) The Worlds Police 1935 (reprint 2005) 25 - This set was originally issued in 1935. This set faithfully reproduces the colour pictures but the backs are printed in black instead of blue. Some things haven’t changed much, the text for the Palestine constable says of the Arabs and Jews “both denominations resort to violence in an effort to settle their age old quarrel”, whilst for Iraq we learn “the population is prone to violence”. Size 69 x 36mm.

Players Amazing Black Friday to Cyber Monday Deals Napoleonic Uniforms 1979 Napoleonic Uniforms 1979 L24 - These large size cards use selected pictures from the 60 postcard size cards titled Interregnum issued by Prescott-Pickup and there is an acknowledgement to that company on the back at the bottom. These also contain details of an album which opened into a wallchart and could be obtained from John Player & Sons for 35p. Included is a soldier of Napoleon’s Foot Grenadiers, a Captain, Adjutant to Marshal Soult and Napoleon himself as well as a Rifle Volunteer of the 3rd Silesian Infantry, General Graf Neithardt Von Gneisenau, Prussian Colonel Blücher and a Private of the 42 Royal Highland Regiment.
