Just Cards Film & Stage Stars Pre-1940 Buster Keaton 2015 Buster Keaton 2015 10 - These ten cards by Just Cards feature tinted pop-art style pictures of legendary slapstick comedy star Buster Keaton. The numbered backs tell his story and what a tale it is. He was born Joseph Frank Keaton in 1895 and performed with his parents at just 3 years of age and was given the name “Buster” by Harry Houdini when he tumbled down the stairs. He started in films with “Fatty” Arbuckle and in 1920 started making his own films including ‘The Playhouse’, ‘Cops’ and ‘The General’. The advent of the talkies saw his career falter and he suffered from depression and drink problems, was married three times and filed for bankruptcy. The 1950s saw revival of his fortune when Paramount filmed his life story which led to increased interested in his earlier films. He died in 1966 at his home in California, but these cards remember him in his heyday. Size 68 x 36mm.
