Goddard Miscellaneous Trade Cards London Views 1925 London Views 1925 M12 - This set is a real gem with charming colour pictures of famous London landmarks such as Hyde Park Corner, a surprisingly empty Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, the Royal Exchange, Greenwich Hospital with sailing ships in the foreground, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge with St Paul’s in the background, the Houses of Parliament, Horse Guards, Whitehall with soldiers parading, a bustling Piccadilly Circus with 1920s vehicles, St Paul’s Cathedral and Buckingham Palace. There is something about this last card which reminds us of the A.A. Milne poem They’re Changing Guard at Buckingham Palace, maybe it’s the small child in the foreground or the obvious 1920s clothes either way this is one of our favourites from the set. The card backs all advertise Goddard’s Plate Powder used for the cleaning of electro-plate and silver and the public are cautioned that cheaper imitations may cause damage to their plate. The powder was sold in various size boxes starting at 6d each. These cards are size 82 x 53mm
