This set of set cards calls on the artistic skills of Philip Emms to show us “six classic examples” we are told on card number 10, so who did the other four? Whoever, these are excellent colour pictures of steam-powered road and agricultural engines from a bygone era with famous firms such as Fowler, Burrell and Aveling well represented. With good descriptive backs these cards are size 79 x 62mm.

Brook Motors Motoring Traction Engines 1968 Traction Engines 1968 EL12 - This company are renowned for their fine issues and this is no exception. The set contains twelve beautiful pictures in full colour of old traction engines and the odd steam roller. Amongst the engines are a Fowler No. 15813 built in 1921, a Burrell No. 3526 ‘Lightening 11’, a McLaren 1421 ‘Captain Scott’ which was used for threshing in Derbyshire between 1926-45, an Aveling & Porter No. 11839 ‘Oberon’ which used to work on the road mending gang and an Aveling & Porter Showman type No. 12115 built in 1928. The numbered backs have a short descriptive text about the engine, plus a general discourse on steam traction engines and an advert and illustration different Brook Motors products. The subject is not that common so is a must for all transport fans. Cards size 119 x 76mm.
