Card Crazy (New Zealand) Rugby Union & League Rugby Superstars Super 12 Logos Chase Set (Rugby Union) 1996 Rugby Superstars Super 12 Logos Chase Set (Rugby Union) 1996 LT5 - The Super 12 was a Rugby Union competition between 12 teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and this set features the logos/emblems (again on shiny foil) for the New Zealand teams which included Otago Highlanders, Waikato Chiefs, Auckland Blues, Wellington Hurricanes and Canterbury Crusaders. The front pictures have a foil background and the numbered backs repeat the picture and tell us about their likely performance in the Super 12 competition. For instance the card for Auckland Blues describes them as “a champion side full of champion players, the Blues look set to make good on their pre-competition position as favourites” and they did indeed win the competition in 1996. Size 89 x 64mm.
