Survival on Star Colony 9 (1979)
Bassett Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Survival on Star Colony 9 (1979) Survival on Star Colony 9 (1979) 50 - These colourful cartoons tell the story of Ranil Zen, a Galactic Federation pilot who is captured by Raidon space ships. Accused of spying he is sent to Star Colony 9 a prison where life expectancy is measured in days not years and from which no one had ever returned. Our hero finds himself trying to evade aliens and prehistoric creatures before managing to capture the weapon of a Jarvian hunter. He then comes across a Zoid in a life or death struggle with an octopus. Although traditionally enemies he rescues the Zoid and the two work together to try to find a ‘Time Gate’ at the centre of the planet which might allow them to escape. As the pair trek on they have to battle dangerous plants and attacks from Raidon fighters who know he has a weapon and want to destroy him. They reach the ‘Time Gate’ only to discover it is guarded by a giant robot, but firing into the robots eyes disables it and they make it inside. The human and void float through time and drift apart. Suddenly Ranil finds himself back behind the controls of his ship at the moment just before his adventure began. He decides to go home another way, but was it all a dream or did it really happen. The backs tell the story and the cards are size 64 x 35mm.
