With rising sea levels and climate change living on stilts may become popular again and in these detailed colour pictures we see how our ancestors constructed, lived and traded from houses which were part of a whole village built on wooden piles over water or boggy ground. We know there was at least one such village as archaeologist have discovered evidence and card number 4 in this series looks at how the watery landscape was ideal for preservation of objects.
