Rocketship X-M 1979
Fantasy (USA) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Rocketship X-M 1979 Rocketship X-M 1979 LT50 - The original black and white film Rocketship X-M was released in America in 1950 and caused quite a stir with its graphic warnings of the dangers of atomic war and radiation poisoning. It told the tale of a crew who accidently find themselves on Mars where they discover evidence of an advanced civilisation destroyed by atomic war with survivors reduced to stone age type characters. The rights to the film were acquired by Wade Williams in the 1970s and he arranged for some scenes to be re-shot to improve continuity and create a more accurate rocketship. These were re-shot in colour then converted to black and white and tinted to match the rest of the film. Interestingly this set features black and white shots from the original as well as colour posters and the re-release colour production shots. The numbered backs give details of the action or the original or re-release stars and crew. An excellent sci-fi set with cards size 89 x 64mm.
