Gallaher Birds, Butterflies & Moths British Birds 1937 British Birds 1937 48 - This set is a must for any fan of the turf and captures the excitement of the great events in the horse racing calendar such as the Grand National, Goodwood, Royal Ascot and, of course, the Derby. The Derby is covered in some detail beginning with the unloading of horses at Epsom Station before taking us to the paddock, then Tattenham Corner and finally the Aga Khan leading in Mahmoud in 1936 – his third Derby winner. Of course race day is as much about the people as it is the horses and on these cards we meet some of the characters at the Derby such as tipster Prince Monolulu, Gypsies on the heath, a Pearly King and Queen, Lord Derby and champion jockeys Gordon Richards and Freddie Fox. The colour pictures have first class texts on the back – you can almost smell the horses! Cards size 63 x 37mm
