Hampson was a “Sharp-shooter of Blackpool’s forward line” and he also played for England against Austria in 1933. Among those featured are goalie W.H. Light of Southampton, Celtic’s C. Geatons, Blackburn Rovers’ J.E. Thompson who we are told broke a leg after scoring a ‘hat-trick’ in 1933, Portsmouth outside-right F. Worrall, W. Furness of Leeds United, Sheffield United’s J. Pickering, Welsh International and Swansea star T. Martin, Aston Villa’s H. Morton, W. McKay of Manchester United, Fulham’s H.E. Hammond who also played cricket for Sussex, Arsenal’s J. Crayston and J.J. Williams of Huddersfield Town who by the time the card was printed had moved to Aston Villa. This set was also produced with a white back – see website for availability. J.F.Sporting Collectibles Football Popular Footballers 1950s 7th Series 2008 Popular Footballers 1950s 7th Series 2008 LT36 - These are colour head and shoulders photos of players from the 1950s including Birmingham City’s Jeff Hall who’s promising career was cut short by his tragic death in 1959 caused by polio, Blackpool’s Hugh and Jimmy Kelly, Les Shannon of Burnley who later became coach at Everton, Clyde’s Harry Haddock who was capped six times for Scotland, the wonderfully named Grenville Hair who made 443 league appearances for Leeds United, Manchester City’s John McTavish, Sheffield United’s Cec Coldwell and Joe Shaw, Southampton’s Terry Paine who was a member of the 1966 World Cup squad, but was not picked for the final, Tim Coleman of Stoke who didn’t turn pro until 1955, Colin Nelson of Sunderland who spent most of his time as a part-time professional whilst qualifying as a pharmacist and the Hammers’ Vic Keeble who retired early due to injuries. Nice colour pictures backed by useful information ideal for any football fan. Size 92 x 65mm.
