Modern Aircraft (brown back) 1953
Osborne Aviation & Space Modern Aircraft (brown back) 1953 Modern Aircraft (brown back) 1953 50 - Back in 1953 Britain still had an aviation industry worth talking about and Osborne Tobacco’s set of Modern Aircraft reflected this with plenty of British examples such as the Hawker Hunter, Vickers Valiant, Supermarine Swift, Canberra Bomber, Avro delta-winged type 698, Viscount, Britannia and Comet (the world’s first jet airliner). Other aircraft of interest include the USA’s Martin Matador Pilotless Bomber, an Auster Ambulance/Freight plane, Rotodyne, Skeeter 3 and Westland S-55 helicopters and a U.S Navy Martin Viking high altitude research rocket which had set a new world just a few years earlier. These pictures are in brown monotone with brown text on the backs, but an alternative blue monotone set with either light or dark blue text back was also available. An excellent set with plenty of information on the reverse and cards size 67 x 36mm.
