Medals of the World 1959
Issuer: Amalgamated Tobacco Condition: Mint * These are original and NOT reprints Description: This colourful set pictures famous medals including the Iron Cross of Germany, Burma Star, Victoria Cross, the U.S.S.R (Russian) Order of Glory, the Purple Heart of America, French Legion d’Honneur and Japanese Order of the Rising Sun. One of the more unusual medals featured is the Tibet Medal which was awarded by Edward VII to those who quelled disturbances in that region in 1904. There is plenty of information on the numbered backs including the fact that the Air Force Cross was awarded to officers for acts of bravery on flights not connected with operations against the enemy. This set was issued in Mauritius with the company’s “Mills Filtertips” brand and has blue text on the reverse. It was also issued by Glengettie Tea with either a blue or black text back in 1961. The cards are size 68 x 36mm Number of cards in set: 25
Price for complete set: Only £8.00
