Lighthouses 1926
Issuer: Wills (Overseas) Condition: Very Good to Excellent * These are original and NOT reprints Description: These were originally issued overseas with Wills’ ‘Three Castles’ brand and take a look at lighthouses around the British Isles. Some are well-known like those at Dungeness, Spurn Head, Bishop Rock on the Isles of Scilly, Flamborough Head near Scarborough, Smeaton Tower or Eddystone Lighthouse in Plymouth or Corbiere Lighthouse on Jersey, but no matter where they are they have all at some time or another been built to prevent shipping from disaster. When this set was produced many of these structures were still manned and in use and you have to admire the courage of the lighthouse keepers in their lonely structures buffeted by wind and sea. The lighthouses are pictured in colour on the front and the backs give the history, details of the range of its light and fog warning system. This set was also produced by British American Tobacco and was reprinted in 2000. A fascinating set with cards size 67 x 35mm. Number of cards in set: 50
Price for complete set: Only £90.00
