Born Eleanor Geisman in New York on 7th October 1917 she survived childhood injury to train as a dancer. Initially in the chorus line of ‘Sing Out The News’ she went on to appear in numerous musicals including Cole Porter’s ‘Panama Hattie’. She appeared with Gene Kelly in ‘Best Foot Forward’ and married fellow actor Dick Powell. In 1959 she starred in her own successful TV show ‘The Dupont Show with June Allyson’ and had a long stage and film career which she talked about in her 1982 autobiography. June was also well-known for her charity fundraising and she died aged 88 in July 2006. Her history is revealed on the numbered card backs. Size 68 x 36mm.

Tony Klinger provides the text on the back which includes his recollections of the films portrayed. The films behind the artwork include the 1965 film ‘The Pleasure Girls’, Roman Polanski’s ‘Repulsion’ produced by Michael Klinger, 1968’s ‘Baby Love’, ‘Get Carter’ which starred Michael Caine, black comedy ‘Pulp’ which again starred Michael Caine, ‘Confessions of a Window Cleaner’ starring Robin Askwith, adventure ‘Shout At the Devil’, documentaries on The Who and Deep Purple and ‘Just A Boy’ based on the experiences of Richard McCann. The final two cards contain pictures of cartoonist Philip Neill with card producer John Devaney and Tony Klinger himself. Size 148 x 105mm

Creepy Card Collectables Film & Stage Stars Pre-1940 Zorita Queen of Burlesque 2015 Zorita Queen of Burlesque 2015 10 - These unusual salmon tinted black and white photos show exotic dancer Zorita in titillating poses. Born in Ohio in 1915 and adopted by a strict Methodist couple, by 15 she was already showing off her body at stag parties and soon moved on to burlesque. She was famous for her blond streaked black hair and naughty stage routines which often involved her snakes Elmer and Oscar. Equally popular were her performances as a half bridegroom, half bride which culminated in a wedding night simulation and her striptease by an unseen spider in front of a rhinestone web. She later owned and ran several burlesque clubs where she taught some of her routines. She died in November 2001. Her story is told on the numbered card backs. Size 68 x 36mm.

Bassett Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Space 1999 TV Series (49 different cards from the set of 50 No 42 scarce card not included) 1976 Space 1999 TV Series (49 different cards from the set of 50 No 42 scarce card not included) 1976 49 out of 50 - This set is based on the classic TV sci-fi series, which was aired between 1975 and 1977, and follows the adventures of the crew of Moonbase Alpha. They live and work in the research station on the moon, but following a huge explosion find themselves adrift in deep space. The cards picture the crew and some of the aliens they encounter as well as action scenes from the show. The programme was created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson who are better known for shows such as Thunderbirds and was one of the most expensive British TV series of the time. The red text backs tell the story and the cards are size 66 x 35mm.
