Greyhound Racing Game 1926
Issuer: Carreras
Condition: Very Good to Excellent
* These are original and NOT reprints
Description: This yellow bordered set with rounded corners contains 15 cards featuring whips i.e huntsmen and women, 16 obstacle cards picturing fences, hurdles and streams, 10 general dog cards, 10 greyhounds (a mixture of single greyhounds and groups) and 1 hare card. The backs feature a blue and white pattern and state that a “leaflet giving directions how to play can be obtained from your dealer”. The instruction leaflet (see website for availability) explained that as soon as the hare card was played the first player to play a single greyhound was the winner. The individual greyhounds are all based on actual greyhounds as they are depicted in racing jackets with their names at the top. They include ‘Mona’, ‘Lion Heart’, ‘Rover’, ‘Mayflower’ and ‘Black Eyed Susan’. A small size version (68 x 26mm) of these cards was also available (see website for availability). These would be ideal as a family game, but the pictures are sufficiently attractive and ‘of-their-time’ to make them well-worth adding to any collection. Size 78 x 62mm Number of cards in set: L52
Abbreviations used for Number In Set:
EL = Extra Large; LT = Large Trade ( size 89 x 64mm); L = Large; M = Medium; K = Miniature.
Price for complete set: Only £15.00
