Bluebell Collection Film & Stage Stars Pre-1940 W C Fields (A tribute to a comedy legend) 2015 W C Fields (A tribute to a comedy legend) 2015 10 - These tinted black and white photos feature comedy star W.C. Fields, who was born William Claude Dukenfield in Pennsylvania on 29th January 1880. In his early years he was a skilled juggler and pool player who performed with the Ziegfeld Follies. His first film was ‘Pool Sharks’ in 1915 and this led to a string of other movies including ‘International House’, ‘David Copperfield’ (in which he was ideally cast as Mr McCawber) and of course the classic 1940s films ‘My Little Chickadee’, which also starred Mae West, and ‘The Bank Dick’. With his distinctive look and witty lines he often played characters with a fondness for drink and was a heavy drinker in real life. He sadly died on Christmas Day 1946 and his story is told consecutively on the numbered card backs. Size 68 x 36mm.
