As before none of them are well known, but the reverse of the cards contain plenty of interesting facts. For instance Dorian Dennis despite having a science degree wanted to star in films, but never made it and became a burlesque artist known as ‘Double D’. Elga Andersen did have a film career, albeit in Europe, but her main claim to fame is that she sang the theme to “The Guns of Navarone”, American actress Jill Banner is better known for her relationship with Marlon Brando, Greek star Aliki Vougiouklaki is apparently the national star of Greece, Haya Harareet had a role in the original ‘Ben Hur’ and American Abbe Lane is best known for her Italian films. Solo Cards Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Glamour Girls 1st Series (From the 1950s and 1960s) 2016 Glamour Girls 1st Series (From the 1950s and 1960s) 2016 10 - This black and white set by new issuers Solo Cards pictures largely unknown film stars, mainly from Europe and the numbered backs tell their story – and what a story some of them have to tell! Candy Barr for example was an American stripper and actress, mainly in porn films who shot her estranged husband. Scilla Gabel by contrast did TV, theatre and film work although she began as Sophia Loren’s body double. Then there’s English actress Eve Eden who appeared in ‘Carry on up the Khyber’, Italian star Marisa Allasio who quit acting when she married Count Pier Calvi di Bergolo and Vera Tschechowa the German born actress best known for being seen with Elvis Presley when he was stationed in Germany. These are not big stars but they are certainly glamorous. Size 68 x 36mm.
