Included here are Billy Wright of Wolves, the first player to win 100 international caps, West Brom’s Len Millard who captained the side to success in the 1953 F A Cup Final, Watford’s Frank Mitchell who also played cricket for Warwickshire, Sunderland’s Willie Watson one of only a few men to have represented their country at both football and cricket, Jack Rowley of Man United, Harry Haddock of Clyde who was Scottish Player of the Year 1959, John Charles of Leeds United for whom Juventus paid a record fee and the legendary Stanley Matthews of Blackpool. J.F.Sporting Collectibles Football Football Stars of the Seventies 1st Series 2000 Football Stars of the Seventies 1st Series 2000 LT36 - These are colour full length caricatures on a glossy card. George Keeling is credited with the drawings and the players were all born in the U.K. or Ireland, with the exception of Clyde Best (Bermuda). The career details on the backs are evidence of their star quality, the most capped being Pat Jennings who represented Northern Ireland no fewer than 119 times, beating Bobby Moore’s England appearances by eleven. The list of players reads like a football hall of fame, Chivers, Gilzean, Banks, Best (George), Bremner, Osgood, etc. Size 89 x 64mm
