Football Funnies 1974
Primrose Football Football Funnies 1974 Football Funnies 1974 25 - Printed on paper this colourful set features humorous cartoons of football incidents from history, but don’t let this put you off as the set is actually very educational, did you know for instance that a form of football was played by the Chinese until AD 25 on the Emperor’s birthday? This is just one of many fascinating facts explained on the card backs which cover such things as the origins of Australian football, football as played by the Greeks and Romans, the first British match in Derbyshire, the highest score recorded (when Arbroath beat Bon Accord 36 – 0), the most bookings in a match (all 22 players in a local cup match in 1969), longest game and even the biggest goalkeeper. Incidentally that last record belongs to English International Willie J Foulke 1874-1916 who was over 6ft tall and weighed 22 stone 3lbs – he definitely made a good goal blocker. This is an interesting little set, size 64 x 34mm.
