Football Forgotten Caps of WWII (World War 2) 2014
J.F.Sporting Collectibles Football Football Forgotten Caps of WWII (World War 2) 2014 Football Forgotten Caps of WWII (World War 2) 2014 LT24 - Football Home Internationals were played during the 2nd World War, and this series comprises black and white head and shoulder photos of players who gained caps during that period from 1939 to 1945 (although I see Charlton’s Bert Johnson’s debut was V. Switzerland in 1946). As for “forgotten” I’m not sure about that, as No 1 is Arsenal’s outside-left Denis Compton (the cricketer) who debuted for England v. Wales at Wembley in 1940, and No 2 is Bolton’s Harry Goslin who captained England on his debut v. Scotland in 1939, through to No 24 Lester Finch (England v. Wales 1941) who had played for GB in the 1936 Berlin’s Olympics. I think “forgotten” means none ever won a full cap. Career details on the backs. Size 89 x 64mm.
