J.F.Sporting Collectibles Football English International Footballers 1872 to 1939 (2018) English International Footballers 1872 to 1939 (2018) LT24 - This set is fairly self-descriptive covering English Internationals from the 1872-1939 period all pictured in black and white head and shoulders shots. Amongst them is Aston Villa player Jimmy Crabtree who won his first cap in 1894, Birmingham City’s Tom Grosvenor who scored a goal against Ireland in October 1934, goalie Jack Hillman, Bob Kelly who won 14 caps and was noted for his wonderful ball control, Bury player Billy Hibbert who played against Scotland in 1910, but was never selected again, winger Owen Williams who before WW1 also played for Manchester United, but after the war joined Clapton Orient, John Goodall who won a F.A. Cup Finalist medal in 1898 with Derby and also played cricket for the county, Edgar Chadwick who won seven caps and also played for both Everton and Liverpool, Sam Barkas who made his England debut in 1936 and was one of four footballing brothers, Ernest Needham who won 16 caps for England in the 1890s and played cricket for Derbyshire and John Reynolds who earned five caps for Ireland before it was discovered he was of England birth. He subsequently won eight caps for England in the 1890s. An interesting set with plenty of information on the reverse. Cards size 91 x 64mm.
