Earl of Derby Collection of Racehorse Paintings 2004
Issuer: G D S Cards
Condition: Mint
* These are original and NOT reprints
Description: Ex-jockey Gerald Segasby tells us Lord Derby permitted his paintings to be used for this series on the understanding the horses were researched to provide a descriptive plaque for each work of art in the collection hung in his home, Knowsley Hall in Lancashire. The resulting set is unique because it is the first time the majority of these paintings have been seen by the public. The quality of colour reproduction and detailed texts is excellent and we see many fine horses from the 1787 Derby winner through to the victor of the 1936 One Thousand Guineas and including the legendary Hyperion who won the 1933 Derby and St. Leger. Size 80 x 63mm. Number of cards in set: L20
Abbreviations used for Number In Set:
EL = Extra Large; LT = Large Trade ( size 89 x 64mm); L = Large; M = Medium; K = Miniature.
