They include Yorkshire’s W. Sugg and F.W. Mulligan, the legendary C.B. Fry of Sussex who took part in 26 Tests for England, Somerset’s Sir W.C. Hedley, P.E. Warner of Middlesex who played 15 matches for England, but was born in Port of Spain in 1873, Lancashire’s S.M. Tindall, J.M. Meldon who played for Ireland, Hampshire’s R.A. Studd, H. Wrathall of Gloucestershire and N.V. Riches of Glamorgan. Aside from the preponderance of moustaches these pictures could have been taken yesterday as most are very good pictures with many in casual pose. An interesting set for any cricket lover with brief career details on the numbered backs. Size 92 x 65.

J.F.Sporting Collectibles Cricket Cricketers The Golden Age Pre Great War 3rd Series 2010 Cricketers The Golden Age Pre Great War 3rd Series 2010 LT24 - Cricketers from the period represented in these black and white photos are far removed from today's game of 20/20 and allegations of sleaze, harking back to the time when Lord Hawke took to the field for Yorkshire 515 times and for five Test matches, and Canon W. Rashleigh forsook the cloth to be Kent's opening bat. In fact, no fewer than 15 of the players in this set represented England at one stage or another, Warwickshire's A.F. Lilley clocking up 35 Test matches, we are informed. At the other end of the scale, G.E. Winter (Middlesex) played just two county matches. Size 89 x 63mm.

J.F.Sporting Collectibles Cricket Cricketers The Golden Age Pre Great War 1st Series 2009 Cricketers The Golden Age Pre Great War 1st Series 2009 LT24 - Here we see cricketers whose ‘golden age’ was the last decade of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th, portrayed in black and white photos, some waist-length, others in full-length poses, arranged alphabetically by county. They include D. Hunter who turned out for Yorkshire in 521 matches, Middlesex’s J.T. Hearne (453 matches plus 12 Tests) and A. P. Lucas whose career began as a Cambridge blue in 1875 and ended at Essex 32 years later having played also for Middlesex and clocking up five Tests in the interim. Career details on the backs. J.F.Sporting Collectibles Cricket Cricketers The Golden Age Pre Great War 5th Series 2011 Cricketers The Golden Age Pre Great War 5th Series 2011 LT24 - Whilst most of these are indeed pre-Great War players, in the case of Sir. H.W.R. Bencraft as far back as 1876, Yorkshire’s T.A. Jacques’ career was entirely post-Great War extending from 1927 to 1936. Some of the subjects were not only cricketers. J.P. Wilson (Yorkshire) also won the 1925 Grand National on ‘Double Chance’, A. Drake played football for Doncaster Rovers, Sheffield United and Birmingham City, whilst Kent’s C. J. Burnup was an England football international. We see them all in full-length black and white photos except Jacques (head and shoulders). Size 89 x 64mm.
