Rothmans Film & Stage Stars Pre-1940 Cinema Stars 1925 Cinema Stars 1925 L25 - The talkies were a turning point in cinema history and many of the ‘silent’ stars failed to make the transition, often because of a heavy foreign accent. This set takes us back to the mid-1920s, the heyday of the silent silver screen, with twenty-five actual photographs each being “one of a fine series now being packed with Rothman’s Pall Mall Virginia Cigarettes”. Among them we find matinee idols Ivor Novello and Ramon Novarro, cowboys Tom Mix and Hoot Gibson, child actor Jackie Coogan and leading actresses such as Norma Shearer, Gloria Swanson and Bebe Daniels, who with her husband Ben Lyon was later to amuse British radio listeners during the war and after with “Life With The Lyons”.
