Tribute Collectables Pop Stars & Singers Screamin Jay Hawkins 2015 Screamin Jay Hawkins 2015 10 - If you have never heard of this classically trained singer and pianist then helpfully his story is told on the numbered cards backs, except for card no. 10 which just has another picture. The six times married Jay, or Jalacy Hawkins as he was born, is shown in colour pop art style pictures in the flamboyant clothing he loved. His most successful composition was “I Put a Spell on You” in 1956 which was originally intended as a ballad but owed its unique style to the intoxication of Jay and his band. He toured with The Clash and Nick Cave in the 1990s and continued to record. He died after emergency surgery in France in 2000 at 70 years of age.
