British Aircraft 1938
Strathmore Tobacco Aviation & Space British Aircraft 1938 British Aircraft 1938 M25 - This set is from the little-known firm of Strathmore Tobacco Co. Ltd who operated from River Plate House, London EC2. They were associated with Challis & Co and only produced one series, this British Aircraft set. This is interesting because it contains many planes which were soon to undergo the supreme test of their battle-worthiness in action during World War II including fighters such as the Spitfire and Hurricane which gave such distinguished service in the Battle of Britain, bombers such as the Blenheim and Wellington and the trusty carrier-borne Fairey Swordfish as well as a parade of other military and civilian aircraft which represented a vibrant and successful British aero industry. The pictures and text were supplied by the influential “Flight” magazine and plenty of information is given on the numbered backs. A fascinating look at British aircraft on the cusp of war. Cards size 76 x 51mm.
