Betty was born Elizabeth Ruth Grable in St Louis, Missouri in December 1916 and died at just 56 years old in 1973. A major star of the 1930s and ‘40s she appeared in Tin Pan Alley (1940), Coney Island (1943) and Pin Up Girl (1944). She had a long acting career, but is best remembered for her bathing suit picture which was a favourite pin up shot of many American soldiers in the war. She became the highest paid star in Hollywood and her legs were insured through Lloyds of London. The unnumbered set makes up into a montage of glamour shots with one card overprinted with her birth and death details. Size 68 x 36mm
