Gallaher Film & Stage Stars Pre-1940 My Favourite Part 1939 My Favourite Part 1939 48 - Issued in August 1939, just before World War II, by Gallaher in their top selling ‘Park Drive Cigarettes’ this set contains colour portraits of film stars in their favourite role and the backs give the reasons for selecting that particular role and bear a facsimile autograph. The stars include Hollywood greats such as Greta Garbo, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Spencer Tracy, Errol Flynn and Raymond Massey. Raymond Massey picked “Things to Come” as his favourite role which by coincidence was the film on which Mitchell’s card set World of Tomorrow was based. British musical favourites such as Jessie Matthews and Gracie Fields are also included as well as newcomers like Laurence Olivier, ”wicked lady” Margaret Lockwood, Olivia de Havilland, Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh who was the surprise choice for the lead in that all-time classic “Gone With the Wind” and a teenage Judy Garland whose favourite part “so far” was in “The Wizard of Oz”. We cannot recommend this set highly enough. Cards size 63 x 37mm
