Topps (UK) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art The Black Hole (White card UK printing) 1980 The Black Hole (White card UK printing) 1980 LT88 - Based on the 1979 space film this set pictures scenes from the film set within a blue space border. The film was produced by Walt Disney Productions and has the distinction of being their first P.G film. It told the story of staff returning to Earth after a long mission who come across a lost spaceship which is mysteriously parked near a black hole, but somehow avoiding its gravitational pull. On investigation it is discovered that this ship is captained by a scientist and crewed by android drones and a sinister robert known as Maximilian. The scientist explains that he is preparing to explore the black hole, but when some of the other crew discover the droids are in fact zombie like members of the old crew things turn nasty. The film ended on a bit of a cliff-hanger as they are all forced into the black hole and enter a hellish landscape from which the heroes escape by following a white light to reach a planet on the other side. The backs make up into three different pictures from the film. The cards are size 89 x 64mm
