J.F.Sporting Collectibles Miscellaneous Trade Cards Abbeys, Monasteries & Priorys in the 20th Century 2011 Abbeys, Monasteries & Priorys in the 20th Century 2011 LT24 - J.F. Sporting might have included the word “ruined” in the title because these invariably turn out to be the remains of buildings, many having been destroyed by Henry VIII during the Dissolution, damage often compounded by more recent activity such as the shelling of Whitby Abbey by German battle cruisers in World War I, as we discover from the backs of these cards, the fronts of which bear hand-coloured photographic pictures dating, I would guess, from around a hundred years ago. Some, such as Tintern, Kirkstall and Castle Acre, will be more familiar than others. Size 89 x 64mm.

J.F.Sporting Collectibles Cricket Cricketers The Golden Age Pre Great War 5th Series 2011 Cricketers The Golden Age Pre Great War 5th Series 2011 LT24 - Whilst most of these are indeed pre-Great War players, in the case of Sir. H.W.R. Bencraft as far back as 1876, Yorkshire’s T.A. Jacques’ career was entirely post-Great War extending from 1927 to 1936. Some of the subjects were not only cricketers. J.P. Wilson (Yorkshire) also won the 1925 Grand National on ‘Double Chance’, A. Drake played football for Doncaster Rovers, Sheffield United and Birmingham City, whilst Kent’s C. J. Burnup was an England football international. We see them all in full-length black and white photos except Jacques (head and shoulders). Size 89 x 64mm.
