J.F.Sporting Collectibles Military - General Series Boer War Officers 2008 Boer War Officers 2008 LT24 - The names of these British military leaders will be familiar to collectors specialising in Guinea Golds and other series from the end of the 19th century, but these J.F. Sporting cards are better with excellent coloured photo-based pictures featuring the likes of Kitchener, Methuen, Hunter and Buller, plus Baden-Powell founder of the Boy Scout movement. Included are some officers who suffered the ultimate price for their war service, Woodgate who died from wounds received at Spion Kop, Wauchope killed at Magersfontein and Afghan war veteran Lt. J.F.Sporting Collectibles Cricket Centenarians Crickets 100 100s Club 2008 Centenarians Crickets 100 100s Club 2008 LT25 - All twenty-five cricketers who have scored first-class centuries, arranged in date order from the first (W.G. Grace 1895, also the oldest player to achieve the feat) through to Ramprakash (in August 2008), are pictured in black and white photographs with career details on the backs. On card no. 3 is Jack Hobbs who holds the record for scoring more hundreds than any other (197 according to the card), Bradman who did the business in the least number of innings, and Hammond who, at 31, was the youngest player to join the distinguished ton-up club. Included are Welsh International Mel Charles, Manchester City’s long-serving Ken Barnes, Newcastle and England star Ivor Broadis, and Sir Bobby Charlton whose amazing career included 752 games for Manchester United and 106 appearances for England including, of course, the 1966 World Cup Final. Cup Winners of 1973 (2008) 15 - Sunderland were the underdogs when they emerged from the tunnel at Wembley on May 5th, 1973, in front of a 100,000 crowd, and they went on to stun the football world when Ian Porterfield scored the goal which gave them victory over a star-studded Leeds United team. Here we meet all twelve Sunderland players (includes substitute David Young), plus manager Bob Stokoe, in a series of excellent colour full-length caricatures within a red oval border, with their career histories on the backs. Card numbers 14 and 15 give final match details and a picture of the cup. Size 68 x 36mm.
