Inkworks (USA) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art The Phantom The Movie 1996 The Phantom The Movie 1996 LT90 - The Phantom was created by American Lee Falk in 1936 and became a classic comic strip. Six decades on Falk watched the filming of the big screen adaptation and is pictured on card no. 72, with the Phantom played by Billy Zane, who you may recognise from his roles in Memphis Belle and Twin Peaks. Another familiar face is the Phantom’s sweetheart played by Kristy Swanson from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Their thrilling adventures were a big hit, as you would guess from these cards. Cards 71 to 90 show us the work of some of the modern comic illustrators of which Michael Haluta is the best known, having been associated with the caped crimefighter for more than twenty years. So for instance the Tazo for Sweden shows Taz, the Tazmanian Devil in white lab coat representing Alfred Nobel. The green backs contain the card number and also a points score. These twenty discs are 40mm in diameter.
