Cult-Stuff Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Adventures of Sherlock Holmes 2013 Adventures of Sherlock Holmes 2013 LT27 - Using original artwork by Josh Werner, this series explores the twelve short stories in “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” in the order that they were originally published in The Strand Magazine in the 1890s, a card for each with picture front and story on the back. The rest of the series comprises photos of Conan Doyle and locations associated with the author, artwork or characters such as Watson, Inspector Lestrade, Irene Adler etc., with explanatory texts on the backs. The first card says the set is designed to acts as a companion to the tales and the final card advises that a future series will cover the next twelve stories from the Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. Size 88 by 63mm.

Cult-Stuff Military - General Series Civil War Chronicles Volume 1 2013 Civil War Chronicles Volume 1 2013 LT36 - Recalling the American Civil War from its outbreak in 1861, this card series is presented in two halves. The first eighteen cards use original artwork by Dave Sharpe or Matthew Zeigler to illustrate battle scenes numbered CW1 to CW18 with the action described on the backs. These are followed by reprints of eighteen contemporary chromo-lithographs (numbered KA1 to KA18) picturing battles in chronological order from Bull Run in July 1861 to Chattanooga in November 1863. Size 88 x 63mm.

Paramint Cards Football Football Favourites (1960s Footballers) 1st Series 2014 Football Favourites (1960s Footballers) 1st Series 2014 20 - Described as “a collection of 20 top football stars”, these black and white head and shoulders photos feature a selection of players whose careers peaked in the 1960s, each at a different club, among them Les Barrett who played well over 400 times for Fulham, Cardiff’s Don Murray (406 league games for The Bluebirds) and Bristol Rovers’ locally-born defender who spent his entire professional career with the club clocking up 545 league appearances, as we learn from the card backs. Size 68 x 36mm.

Redsky Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Leslie Caron 2014 Leslie Caron 2014 10 - Redsky has specialised in series featuring female Hollywood stars from the ‘fifties and ‘sixties (fourteen so far, as listed in the Trade Card Catalogue) and now they have given Leslie Caron the same treatment – ten photos in colour (mostly) of the beautiful French actress, perhaps best known for appearing in musicals such as “An American in Paris” (with Gene Kelly) and “Daddy Longlegs” (with Fred Astaire). The backs make up into a sectional picture of Leslie at leisure with information of date and place of birth. Size 68 x 36mm.

Tribute Collectables Pop Stars & Singers Satchmo 2014 Satchmo 2014 15 - Adding to their card series featuring stars of film and music their latest collection celebrates the life and times of Louis Armstrong, better known as Satchmo the jazz trumpeter who we see here in colour pictures with the star’s life-story on the backs, beginning in 1900 New Orleans and an impoverished childhood which led him to take up cornet playing whilst in a care home. At 22 he joined King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band as trumpeter after which his career took off, making recordings through the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s as well as concert, TV and film appearances, possibly the most famous of which was in “High Society” with Grace Kelly, and in 1968 topped the charts with “What a Wonderful World”. He died of a heart attack in 1971. Size 68 x 36mm.
