Sheldon Miscellaneous Trade Cards Famous Old Standians 2002 Famous Old Standians 2002 10 - If you’re from outside the Manchester area you may be puzzled by the title, which refers to ‘Stand Grammer School’, founded in 1688. This series commemorates the school’s demise in the year 2000 by featuring ten famous old boys in black and white pictures, with biographies on the back. The series contains Robert Clive (Clive of India), Warren Hegg (test cricketer), Howard Jacobson (author & broadcaster), Henry Livings (Playwright & author), Philip Lowrie (actor), Lawrence McGinty (TV broadcaster), Norman McVicker (cricketer), Neil Midgley (football referee), Al Read (comedian) and John Spencer (snooker player). If ever a set of cards was justified to celebrate a worthy occasion this is it, colour action pictures from the match, team photo, club badge etc, back by descriptive text, which includes details of Yeovil’s extra-ordinary giant-killing achievements over the years. Reflections Rugby Union & League Rugby Union World Cup 2003 Rugby Union World Cup 2003 4 - Reflections were quick off the mark producing this series of cards celebrating England’s victory over Australia to win the Webb Ellis Trophy for the first time. Jonny Wilkinson and Jason Robinson are pictured along with the cup in Michael O’Brien’s illustration on the England card, the other three cards being devoted to the ‘runners up’ and the quarter finalists, with match details on the backs. In this card series we see ninety scenes from the firm with the story told on the backs. But there’s more.
