The mixture of zany comedy, sexy women, an outrageous storyline and improbable gadgetry made this a winning formula, as we see on these cards, some with sectional backs, others telling the story. Strictly Ink (UK) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Doctor Who 2nd Series 2001 Doctor Who 2nd Series 2001 LT120 - Of special interest in this set are the eighteen cards devoted to the work of set designers Ray Cusick (who in 1963 brought us the Daleks, apparently inspired by a café salt cellar) and Ian Scoones, who learned his craft with Hammer Films. He was responsible for Arcturus and elaborate models. The rest of the cards picture colour scenes from episodes featuring the various Doctors with the story on the back. Size 89 x 64mm.

Bon Air (USA) Motoring Fire Engines 4th Series 1994 Fire Engines 4th Series 1994 LT100 - These are colour pictures of fire-fighting appliances from all over the United States (plus one from Canada and one from Australia), 98 in all, plus two checklists. Whilst mostly modern service vehicles a few date back to the 1940s and 1950s and there is even a 1929 fire-chief’s sedan. A dog called Pudge from Vernon, Connecticut is also included for good measure! The backs of the cards give descriptions of the models featured. Size 89 x 64mm.

Bon Air (USA) Motoring Fire Engines 5th Series 1998 Fire Engines 5th Series 1998 LT100 - As the title suggests this is the fifth in a series of cards featuring fire-fighting appliances produced by Bon Air. These cards, numbered 401 to 500 including two checklist cards, demonstrate the diversity of designs chosen by various fire departments around the States and Canada, mostly big beasts of vehicles, but also a water tanker and a mobile canteen. A war-time truck from Tennessee is the oldest and in 1998 was being used in a campaign for a new fire academy. Size 89 x 64mm.

This is one of a number of sets on the subject. Numbered from 101 to 200 this set focuses on the inhabitants of the Star Trek universe, starting with “aliens” showcasing the imaginative creatures encountered over the last thirty years and ending with “personnel” presenting the famous crews from Captain Kirk to Captain Kathryn Janeway, with description and mini-picture on the numbered backs. As with the other sets it features the characters such as Kirk, McCoy, Spook etc., plus scenes from the film. The backs describe the principal characters and give the story accompanied by the Rainbo log “Rainbo is good bread”. Size 89 x 64mm.

Eclipse Enterprises (USA) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art The Beverly Hillbillies 1993 The Beverly Hillbillies 1993 LT110 - The Beverly Hillbillies were number one in the American TV ratings for ten years in a row and a big hit over here too. These cards show scenes from the programme, some in black and white the rest in colour from when CBS switched to the new technology in 1965. The Clampett family with granny, Jed and Jethro (played by Max Baer Jr.) were the stars of the sitcom. Many of the episodes are described on the backs, together with some facts. Size 89 x 64mm.
