Unstoppable Cards Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 50 Years 2018 Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 50 Years 2018 LT36 - Unstoppable Cards have already produced produced a set on Gerry Andersons show Captain Scarlet, but this new set celebrates 50 years since the series was last aired in May 1968. The show again featured Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s supermarionation, but this time the puppets were more life-like and the show was darker. The hero was Captain Scarlet who with fellow agents of Spectrum, who were also all named after colours, defends the Earth against mysterious aliens from Mars known as the Mysterons. These aliens had the ability to take control of people and they already have Spectrum agent Captain Black in their power. This set pictures action shots from the show, together with a couple of behind the scenes cards and a checklist. The numbered backs feature a different picture and brief text. County Print Cricket Durham County Cricket Club Pavilions 1992 (Postcards) Durham County Cricket Club Pavilions 1992 (Postcards) EL7 - This set was produced when Durham had just been elevated from the minor counties to first class cricket. Most of their fixtures are played at their Riverside Ground in Chester-le- Street, but this set pictures pavilions at some of other grounds the county side have played at including the Racecourse Ground in Durham which staged the first home fixture in first class cricket in 1992, the County Cricket Ground at Jesmond, Park Drive, Hartlepool, Ropery Lane, Chester-le-Street which is situated only a short walk away from the Riverside Ground which the back refers to as “the proposed Riverside Park development and new County Cricket Ground”, Feethams in Darlington where Durham played Somerset in 1992 Grangefield Road, Stockton-On-Tees where in 1996 Durham played Surrey and Eastwood Gardens in Gateshead who’s pavilion was rebuilt in 1966/67 after a fire. The postcard format backs contain a few words about the venue and all the photographs were printed with the permission of William A. Powell author of the Wisden Guide to Cricket Grounds. These come in an envelope marked “Durham County Cricket Club Inaugural First Class Season 1992”. Size 140 x 90mm

J.F.Sporting Collectibles Football Famous Footballers 1896-97 1st Series 1998 Famous Footballers 1896-97 1st Series 1998 M40 - This set consists of players from the 1896-97 season. The black bordered, black and white photos are remarkably clear for their age and I love the one of Freddie Wheldon of Small Heath who appears to be sitting on a kitchen chair! Freddie was capped 4 times for England in addition to being a cricketer for Worcestershire so was doubtless in need of a sit down. Arsenal’s Henry Boyd by contrast was obviously pictured in a studio as he is posing on a rock with plants in the background. Also included are Arsenal goalie Harry Storer who played cricket for Derbyshire, Aston Villa’s John Devey (who also played cricket for Warwickshire) and Charlie Athersmith who surely wins the prize for longest shorts, Welsh International and Bolton Wanderers full back Di Jones, Millwall’s Joe Gettins, Sheffield United’s William Foulke who was also a Derbyshire cricketer, Tom Crawshaw of Sheffield Wednesday who had 10 England caps and West Brom’s centre-half Charles Perry. The numbered backs give brief career details. Size 80 x 55mm

This show capitalised on the popularity of cowboy shows at the time and told the story of a fictional Kansas town of Four Feather Falls and the adventures of its inhabitants who included Sheriff Text Tucker, voiced by actor Nicholas Parsons. The Sheriff was granted magical feathers as a reward for rescuing the grandson of Chief Kalamakooya which enable his guns to point and fire on their own when he is in danger and his horse Rocky and dog Dusty to speak. Players Aviation & Space International Air Liners 1936 (CCS Reprint 2001) International Air Liners 1936 (CCS Reprint 2001) 50 - The title says it all really these are reprints cards from 1936 which picture airline \r\ncompanies and their aircraft from around the world. Among those featured are Imperial Airways ‘Scylla’ which carried a crew of 5 and 39 passengers and there is a separate illustration of one of the crew preparing lunch. We also see a twin-engined Potez 62 from Air France, a German Luft Hansa Heinkel HE.111 which ominously has the swastika symbol on its tail fin, a K.L.M (Dutch) Fokker F.XXII, a stylish seaplane of the Ala Littoria (Italian) airline, a Swissair Douglas D.C2, a Aeroput (Yugoslavia) Dragon-Rapide, a Delta and Northwest Airlines Lockheed ‘Electra’ and a Pan American Airways’ clipper class flying boat. The interior of this flying boat is also pictured and we can see travellers in comfy armchairs having a smoke. We are also shown inside the cockpit of a Quantas ‘Commonwealth’ class liner which looks worryingly basic and cramped. The numbered backs give plenty of information on the company and the aircraft. Unstoppable Cards Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art The Secret Service 2018 The Secret Service 2018 LT18 - The Secret Service was the eighth and final Anderson series to use supermarionation puppetry, but this differed from previous shows in that its central character Father Stanley Unwin resembled and was voiced by a real-life comedian of the same name and it also included footage of live actors in the long-distance shots. The story focuses on Father Stanley and his verger Matthew Harding who work in a quiet English village, but they have a hidden-life as secret agents for an organisation known as BISHOP which is a covert branch of British Intelligence. In their defence of the realm against foreign agents and terrorists they often deploy a secret devise known as the minimiser which shrinks people to a fraction of their actual size. This proves useful in smuggling Harding into difficult to access places and also shrinks villains so they can be easily defeated. In addition Unwin has a 1917 Model T Ford known as Gabriel which has been secretly revamped. Apparently Gerry Anderson was a fan of Stanley Unwin and wanted to make full use of his comic talents including his ability to speak his own form of gobbledegook. The cards picture the characters and scenes from the series whilst the numbered backs feature different pictures and details of the episode or character. Design At London Colour Ltd Fish, Fishing & the Ocean Underwater Predators 2018 Underwater Predators 2018 EL20 - This set is both fascinating and scary at the same time. It pictures some of the creatures that lurk underwater around the world and the text on the back was written by keen angler Kevin Midmore who is pictured on some of the cards with his catch. The set includes two species often seen in water parks, the Dolphin and Orca, but there are some fearsome predators featured which only an angler would want to meet such as the Wells Catfish, Bull and Great White Sharks, Barracuda, Payara nicknamed Vampire Fish, Moray Eels whose bite is so severe that it isn’t \\r\\nRight: new Predators set\\r\\nreleased even in death and the incredibly ugly Atlantic Goosefish with it’s huge mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. You may never go into the water again after seeing these cards, but they offer an interesting look at some of the most effective killers of the deep and the pictures are excellent. Size 102 x 74mm
