Topps (UK) Films, TV, Sci Fi & Comic Art Pokemon 1st Series 2000 Pokemon 1st Series 2000 LT90 - Pokemon (“Pocket Monsters”) was a global craze created in Japan by Satoshi Tajiri who as a boy was obsessed with collecting insects and bugs. As a teenager he became a video fanatic and his two main interests combined when he imagined an insect moving back and forth between two Game Boy consoles. Nintendo signed him up and Pokemon was born. From computer game to TV animation and a film which played to packed houses, Pokemon is also available on cards. In full colour nos. 1 to 75 feature the main characters, with a mini-picture and description on the numbered backs. These are followed by 13 cards numbered TV1 to TV13 picturing the likes of Brock, Misty, Professor Oak etc., the first four of which have mini picture/descriptive backs, whilst the backs of the remaining nine make up into a sectional illustration of the whole gang. A picture which is reproduced on the front of the final card which is a checklist. Size 89 x 64mm.
