Walters Toffee Military & Armed Forces Some Cap Badges of Territorial Regiments 1938 Some Cap Badges of Territorial Regiments 1938 50 - This set was produced by Walters, one of the largest toffee manufacturers in the country, best known for their Palm Toffee brand which was so named as it had banana flavouring in it. These were issued just prior to World War II and picture the actual badges of the regiments against a yellow background and with the name of the regiment underneath. There is a comprehensive text on the reverse from which we learn that the Lovat Scouts were formed in 1900, fought at Gallipoli and have there headquarters in Inverness, the Cheshire Regiment achieved fame by attacking a force over twelve times their number in 1843, the Royal Army Medical Corps’ motto translates as faithful in hardship and that the searchlight battalions of the Royal Engineers are “now part of the air defences of Great Britain”. It is sad to think that only a short time later these defences would be put to the test. All the cards contain the words “published courtesy of the Royal United Service Museum” on the reverse. This is an excellent military set with cards size 69 x 36mm.
