These unusual monochrome pictures show many of the important old buildings and streets in Norwich including the fabulous Cathedral whose foundations were laid in 1096, the Market Place, Norwich Castle, the mediaeval Guildhall in front of which stands the 1927 War Memorial, Erpingham Gate which is decorated with the figures of twenty six saints, Bridewell Alley with St. Andrew’s Church in the background, the curiously named Stranger’s Hall and Elm Hill which is one of the oldest streets in Norwich. The backs contain a wealth of information such as dates of construction, building materials, builders etc.
