Cooper And Co Transportation Transport Through the Ages 1st Series 1961 Transport Through the Ages 1st Series 1961 25 - Originally issued with packets of Charter tea and the first of two sets produced on the subject this set illustrates different modes of transport, which as the first card states take us “from the earlier days of civilisation to the present day.” As you might expect the arrangement is more or less chronological, taking us from a litter in Ancient Egypt and a coracle on the Tigris via beasts of burden, carts, sleighs, mail coaches and sailing schooner. The colour pictures are backed by informative text and the set was also produced by Charter Tea c1965. Cards size 68 x 36mm

Cooper And Co Miscellaneous Trade Cards Mysteries and Wonders of the World 2nd Series 1960 Mysteries and Wonders of the World 2nd Series 1960 25 - The colour illustration in this set cover all manor of interesting or weird things, beginning with the Grand Canyon and ending with a Saunder-Roe Hovercraft. Also included are strange pyramids in Mexico, the Parthenon, television, a heart-lung machine, space suits of the future, the Mona Lisa, the mystery of an Indian Rope Trick, the oldest living thing, Isaac Newton and the apple, Angel Falls in Venezuela, the genius of Mozart, the Rosetta Stone and the fabulous statues on Easter Island that are still not understood. These cards were originally available in packets of Coopers tea and they also produced a 1st Series of Mysteries & Wonders of the World (see website for details of availability). The pictures are backed by informative text such as the fact that the towering cliffs of the Grand Canyon were created by water wearing away the rock and are really the banks of a river. An interesting little set. The cards are size 68 x 36mm.

Cooper And Co Transportation Transport Through the Ages 2nd Series 1961 Transport Through the Ages 2nd Series 1961 25 - This set carries on where the 1st Series left off i.e. developments in ship design which take us right up to the liner ‘Queen Elizabeth, then from sedan chairs and rickshaws to 1960s cars and lorries and from balloons and airships to jet airliners. This series was also issued by Charter Tea in 1965. Two of the cards showing changes in bus travel contain adverts for Coopers’ tea. The last card covers space travel on which we are told “perhaps in the life time of many of you space travel will have begun! Cards size 68 x 36mm.

Cooper And Co Miscellaneous Trade Cards Mysteries and Wonders of the World 1st Series 1960 Mysteries and Wonders of the World 1st Series 1960 25 - The colour illustration in this set cover all manor of interesting or weird things, beginning with a volcano erupting and ending with the first astronomical telescope. Also included are the discovery of Tutenkamen’s tomb and the ‘Dead Sea Scrolls’, a Douglas X-3 travelling at three times the speed of sound, the first steam passenger railway in 1825, cave paintings in the caverns of Lascaux, moon rockets, an atomic power station, submarine, Sputnik and the Sphinx of Gizeh. These cards were originally available in packets of Coopers tea and they also produced a 2nd Series of Mysteries & Wonders of the World (see website for details of availability). The pictures are backed by informative text such as the fact that the caverns of Lascaux were discovered in 1940 when a dog fell through a hole and his owners went to rescue him. All good stuff! Cooper And Co Dinosaurs Prehistoric Animals 1st Series 1962 Prehistoric Animals 1st Series 1962 25 - This is an excellent colourful and educational series which as the title suggests looks at prehistoric animals. Included in this 1st Series are the Hyracotherium which looks somewhat like a pig, the Cynognathus which is described as a mammal-like reptile “akin in some aspects to the dog” although not looking like any pet we would want in the house, the Rhino-like Brontotherium, the 40-foot sea-living Macroplata, the Mesosaurus which was amphibious and frankly hideous looking, Rhamphorhynchus which was a Jurassic flying reptile, Alticamelus a forerunner of the camel and Dimorphodon an early flying reptile which was the first specimen discovered by legendary fossil hunter Mary Anning in 1828. This set was also issued by Sunblest Tea in 1966 and a 2nd Series was also issued by both companies. This is a fascinating set with cards size 68 x 36mm.

Cooper And Co Dinosaurs Prehistoric Animals 2nd Series 1962 Prehistoric Animals 2nd Series 1962 25 - This is an excellent colourful and educational series which as the title suggests looks at prehistoric animals. Included in this 2nd Series are the Hyracodon which looks rather horse-like, the Dinoris which we are told looks similar to an Ostrich, but was 13 feet high, the dolphin like Stenopterygius, ancient Bison, the Woolly Rhinoceros with a horn over 3 feet, a sabre-toothed Smilodon, the ancestor of the elephant known as a Palaemastrodon which was only 3 feet tall, a type of Giant Gopher and dinosaurs Allosarus and Brachiosauras. This set was also issued by Sunblest Tea in 1966 and a 1st Series was also issued by both companies. This is a fascinating set with cards size 68 x 36mm.
