The superb pictures and texts bring to life the achievements of these historic vehicles which include a 1920 Vauxhall E-Type, a 1922 Rover Eight, a two-seat Bentley tourer, the 1923 Austin Seven which is described as the 1920’s equivalent of the Mini, a 1924 Sunbeam, the unconventional Trojan PB of 1924, the Morris Cowley named after William Morris who was described as the Henry Ford of the British motor industry, a 1925 Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 formerly owned by the second Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, a 1930 M.G. Midget, the 1933 Aston Martin 1 ½ litre used at Le Mans, a Morgan Super Sports three-wheeler, the quiet running Talbot 105, a 1935 Austin Ten Lichfield, the 1937 Wolseley 25hp given by the workers to Lord Nuffield and the sleek Lagonda V-12 from 1939. Sharman Railways Golden Age of Steam 1979 Golden Age of Steam 1979 L24 - The series includes many of the most famous names in British railway history such as “City Truro” (100mph in 1904), “King George V” (in 1927 Britain’s most powerful loco, shipped to America for railway centenary celebrations), “Flying Scotsman” (the best known of all Gresley Pacifics), “Sir Nigel Gresley” (one of the 35 high-speed A4 streamlined Pacifics of which “Mallard” attained the world record steam speed of 126mph in 1938), and “Evening Star” (in 1960 the last steam locomotive built by British Rail at Swindon). The descriptive backs are highly informative. This is a true classic, impeccably produced, a ‘must’ for anyone with even a passing interest in railways.
