They include Peter Taylor, signed in 1973, who won ‘Player of the Year’ in his first season, Kenny Sansom who made his Palace debut at just 16, Steve Kember who ended his playing career as manager of the club, Fan Zhiyi the Chinese international and Ian Wright second highest scorer for the club, but better known now for his TV appearances. The backs give a career history of the player and mentions this is a first set so presumably we can look forward to another set at some stage. Size 68 x 36mm.

Take no. 1 as an example. It is “The Principality of Sealand” which turns out to be a former WWII sea fort, latterly a pirate radio station, in the North Sea beyond UK jurisdiction over which a certain Mr Roy Bates declared it a ‘nation state’ and wrote its constitution. Noted for his fiery renditions, he recorded and toured with Little Richard before teaming up with Chas. Chandler to form a new band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, then joining Pete Townsend and Eric Clapton in the supergroup Crème. Numerous hits followed and he acquired a reputation for his outlandish stage act, including setting fire to his guitar, as revealed in the biography on the back of these colour photos of the artist. Number 1 is Newcastle United’s John McGrath, No. 2 is Jim Furnell of Burnley, No. 3 is Ted McDougall who joined Bournemouth in 1969, No. 4 is Chelsea’s David Webb. No. 5 is Jimmy Johnstone of Celtic, No. 6 is Jimmy Robertson of Tottenham, No. 7 is Tony Book of Manchester City, No. 8 is Alex Young who played 227 league games for Everton, No. 9 is Arsenal's John Sammuel and No. 10 is Keith Weller of Millwall. Lychgate Press Miscellaneous Trade Cards The Wonderful World of Inventions 2004 The Wonderful World of Inventions 2004 10 - This intriguing little set of ten cards features colour pictures of some great, and some strange, inventions with the illustrations being taken from a 1930 publication ‘The Wonder Book of Inventions’. Aviation is to the fore, with three subjects rocket plane, autogiro and mid-air refueling, and among the other cards we see a ‘Baltic’ type railway locomotive and ‘Golden Arrow’ in which Henry Segrave set a new land speed record of 231 mph in 1929, an achievement for which he was knighted, the vehicle is on permanent display at the Montagu Motor Museum. The colour photos are all copyright to Philip Neill and are a mixture of horizontal and vertical. I guess these could be described as urban art and the cards are all are numbered on the front. The backs, except for card no. 5 which gives details of the buildings featured, make up into a large sectional black and white picture of the former Eva Bros tool makers site at Openshaw, Manchester.
