Sheldon Miscellaneous Trade Cards Famous Old Standians 2002 Famous Old Standians 2002 10 - If you’re from outside the Manchester area you may be puzzled by the title, which refers to ‘Stand Grammer School’, founded in 1688. This series commemorates the school’s demise in the year 2000 by featuring ten famous old boys in black and white pictures, with biographies on the back. The series contains Robert Clive (Clive of India), Warren Hegg (test cricketer), Howard Jacobson (author & broadcaster), Henry Livings (Playwright & author), Philip Lowrie (actor), Lawrence McGinty (TV broadcaster), Norman McVicker (cricketer), Neil Midgley (football referee), Al Read (comedian) and John Spencer (snooker player). Cup First Qualifying Round, 1st Leg versus Israel champions Maccabi Haifa. What they saw, as shown in the colour pictures on these cards, Sheldon’s third in their “Match of the Day” series, was a spirited display by the gallant underdogs, a proud day for the part-timers who were not disgraced by a 3-0 defeat. Sheldon Miscellaneous Trade Cards Out of the Blue into the Red (Labour Politicians) 1997 Out of the Blue into the Red (Labour Politicians) 1997 L18 - This was a very topical set when it was issued in 1997 to celebrate the Labour Party’s victory in the general election in 1997. It features colour head and shoulders drawings of members of the Labour government such as Tony Blair, John Prescott, Gordon Brown, Robin Cook, Mo Mowlam, Peter Mandelson, Harriet Harman etc. The excellent artwork by Denise Dean really captures the personality of the subjects and are shown (appropriately) on a red background. The numbered and titled backs give career and personal details. Highly commended these are size 91 x 60mm.

Sheldon Cricket The Don (Reproductions of Don Bradman Cricket Cards) 2nd Series 2010 The Don (Reproductions of Don Bradman Cricket Cards) 2nd Series 2010 20 - Produced as a tribute to one of the all-time cricket greats, Sir Donald Bradman, the Australian right-hand batsman, googly bowler and brilliant fieldsman, these are reproductions of cards originally issued between 1930 and 1986, as listed on the first card in the series. In particular, the Don's record against England was amazing, in 120 innings he was not out 18 times, made 41 centuries and scored a total of almost 10,000 runs of which 334 were in one innings. A worthy celebration of a giant in sport. Size 69 x 39mm.
